Michael Shanahan has experience in nearly every area of automotive law. Primarily representing automotive dealerships, he has successfully represented dealers with advising and consulting, negotiations, dispute resolution, and litigation in a multitude of areas including without limitation:  manufacturer issues, state and federal tax matters, incentive and warranty audits, attorney general matters (doc fees – advertising – deceptive acts – promotions – etc.), Dealer Service Division audits/examinations, licensing, state and federal litigation, insurance coverage disputes, consumer issues, vendor disputes, buy-sell transactions, contracts, document fees, advertising/marketing compliance, privacy compliance, OFAC, Graham Leach Bliley Act, Red Flags Rules, FCRA, business entity formation, corporate compliance and record keeping, floor planning, capital raises, leases, affiliated entity assistance (i.e., real estate entities, finance companies, and other companies), etc. He regularly interacts with dealership owners and management  to advise them on the various business decisions they make in the day to day operations as well as future planning.

Mr. Shanahan is a member of the Indiana Bar Association, as well as the National Association of Dealer Counsel and the Automobile Dealers Association of Indiana via Mallor | Grodner, LLP. He stays connected to the industry regularly visiting with clients and addressing concerns.

  • Previously represented the Automobile Dealers Association of Indiana (ADAI), the Indianapolis Auto Trade Association (IATA) and Vernon General
  • Drafted contracts for Buy Here Pay Here and Lease Here Pay Here operations
  • Drafted forms package for New and Independent Dealers
  • Manage forms package for the ADAI, including drafting new forms and annual revisions to existing forms
